RizalES_SLC MATATAG: The Implementation of the SLC Program with the MATATAG Curriculum

Not 1 but 2. Rizal ES is blessed that it is one of the chosen pilot schools of SLC implementation together with the pilot implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum.

Nestled amidst the cool hills of Baguio City, Philippines, stands Rizal Elementary School, a vibrant hub of learning named after the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. The school boasts a rich history, having served the educational needs of Baguio’s young minds for over a century. A Legacy of Education: Established in 1904, Rizal Elementary School is one of Baguio’s oldest and most esteemed public schools. Throughout its long journey, the school has witnessed generations of students pass through its doors, equipped with knowledge, values, and a love for learning.

Grade 4 teachers were hesitant at first but with their growth mindset, accepted the challenge of accepting these 2 blessings. They were able to adapt and adjust to the pieces of training they had undergone. Using different platforms like LMS, Slido, and Class Point they were able to successfully implement the program and the curriculum synchronously and asynchronously for the first quarter. Further, they were able to implement online examinations for the 1st quarter as well.

However, implementing and sustaining such communities, programs, and curriculum shifts also presents several challenges. Technical literacy and support: Both educators and learners need adequate training and support to effectively utilize technology tools and troubleshoot technical issues, thus, everybody needs to devote time to mastering and preparing.
